See Your Potential: Neuroanatomy from Single Cells to the Entire Brain
Type: Presentation
Description:
Participants will have hands-on experience with mounting pre-cut tissue sections from a rat brain onto glass slides. After tissue sections are mounted, they can look closer at pre-mounted and Nissl-stained tissue series through a brightfield microscope. Participants will be guided to identify different brain regions based on cell structure and anatomical landmarks. They can also match where their section is located in the brain by referring to the rat brain atlas and learn about how these brain regions regulate behaviors in rats such as social play and investigation. Participants will also be able to view video recordings of some social behaviors that we study in our lab such as social play and social investigation. All participants will be provided with gloves, tissue sections, mounting brushes, and glass slides.
