Searching for Treasure: Using Multi-Fidelity Modeling to Find Deep Sea Gems
Type: Presentation
Description:
Searching for treasure on the ocean floor can be difficult work. When we swim close to the ocean floor, the scope (or area we can see) will be limited. If we swim at a shallower depth, we can increase our scope, but our vision will be blurrier. However, by leveraging searches at multiple depths, we shorten the overall time it takes to find treasure! This concept, called multi-fidelity modeling, is a useful machine learning concept that we can use to help us make better design decisions.
