Exploring the Sounds of our Solar System
Type: Talk or Demonstration
What does the Sun sound like? Can we hear the eruption of massive solar flares? Join Dr. Robert Alexander at the Abrams Planetarium to find the answers to these questions and more in an immersive audio-visual voyage through the solar system. As a NASA fellow, Dr. Alexander worked closely with scientists at Goddard Space Flight Center to produce new scientific discoveries about our closest star with an emerging form of data analysis known as sonification. His work has been showcased on various platforms including TEDx, National Geographic, VICE, Origin Magazine, and NPR, and we are excited to host him for the first time here at MSU. Fasten your seatbelts and prepare for an exhilarating ride! This talk will provide thought-provoking fun for all ages--it’s not to be missed!
