In 2024, the MSU Science Festival launched a Natives in STEAM program for Native Middle and High School students from tribal communities across Turtle Island. Participants spent a whole weekend on MSU's campus exploring science, traditional ecological knowledge, and culture. The program continued in 2025, and we plan to bring this program back in 2026.
Student Sustainability Summit

In partnership with EGLE, MDARD, EGLE, and environmental educators across the state, the MSU Science Festival will host its second annual Student Sustainability Summit for Middle and High School students! There are three ways to participate as a presenter:
- Host an exhibitor table with hands-on activities and mini demonstrations in a flowing expo setting
- Host a tour or open house at your on-campus lab, garden, museum, or facility
- Host a sustainability-related talk or demonstration
